Unique Wedding Dresses

When it comes to picking the best styles of wedding dresses, you have a lot to choose from. Just by looking at a lot of bridal magazines, you can tell that there are tons of unique wedding dresses out there. However, how do you know what wedding gowns fit your needs and what you want? After all, you do not just want cheap wedding dresses that look good; you want wedding dresses that fit the overall purpose and theme of your wedding. Today we are going to talk about how to pick out the best wedding dresses for you. We are going to cover some tips that you can use to make finding the perfect wedding dress super easy!

First of all, those bridal magazines you have are going to come in very handy. What you need to do is clip out some pictures of the wedding dresses that you like. Now when you go shopping for unique wedding dresses, you will have a basic style that you want to work with. It is always best to have some kind of goal dress in mind. This gives you something to work towards, which is a very good start. On that same note, make sure that you know that it does not have to look just like the wedding dress you clipped out; it just has to be similar. If you spend all your time looking for that exact dress, then you are going to end up cutting off a lot of perfectly great wedding dresses.

Next, you need to think about the theme of your wedding. For example, are you going to have a beach wedding? If so, then you are going to want beach wedding dresses. These are dresses that are different from other wedding dresses, because they are shorter and normally not as thick. This keeps the bride from getting too hot in it while standing in the sun. The dress being shorter not only helps with heat as well, but it also keeps the end of the dress from dragging in the sand. Some women do not care if their dress drags in the sand, but for others, they do not want to ruin a wedding dress this way.

No matter what kind of wedding dress that you choose to go with, you need to schedule an appointment to try on some different wedding dresses. There are a number of shops that will let you try on a variety of dresses to see which ones look good on you. The keyword is looks good on “you.” Just because a dress looks good on a person in a picture, does not mean that it is going to look as good on you. It is very important that you spend your time looking for wedding dresses that fit your figure and have the right feel.

When trying on the wedding dresses, remember that a camera is your best friend. Looking in a mirror is a good way to tell if the dress looks fine, but by looking at yourself in a picture that a camera took, it's like getting an out of body idea of how the dress looks on you. Sometimes it can help you in finding some flaws in the dress that you wouldn't have normally seen.

Also remember to use your magazine clippings. Take your clippings to the wedding dress shops. This helps to give them an idea of what you are looking for. Then they can go back and pull all the dresses that fit the one in the picture. Although they may not have the exact dress in the picture, they are going to have a few dresses that come close in style. Also remember to try on a few different wedding dresses to see if there is a possible style that looks better on you than you thought. Trying on wedding dresses is not an easy task, and it can take all day long, so do not go into a wedding dress shop thinking that you are only going to be in their for a little bit. Trying on dresses can take a long time, and this is something that you only know if you have been part of a wedding dress hunt before.

Before you buy your final wedding dress it's a good idea to check with few other wedding dress shops to see if they have the same dress, but for less. You would be shocked to find how much some stores overprice their dresses for. If you go to another shop and the price is lower, then you save money. However, if the price is not lower, then just go back to the other shop or try to bargain with the shop owner to get the price down. Shopping for wedding dresses does take a long time, but it does not have to be hard. You can walk away from a wedding shop with the dress of your dreams, and for a good price as well.

Wedding Planning

Unique Wedding Planning Ideas!

Wedding planning is no small task. There are so many factors that go into it, if you don’t know what you are doing, you can get overwhelmed quickly. I remember the first wedding I had to plan all by myself – it was a feat, if ever. I had planned weddings before, but I was always the one to tie up loose ends, not catch the flailing ropes in mid air. I had a big challenge ahead of me, but I decided that if I can plan corporate parties and events, I can do this, too. I started out my wedding planning perfection formula with one major thing: a wedding checklist. I had no idea where to start, nor which way was up. My first instinct was to write it all down! So with my wedding checklist in hand, off I went to triage the items into workable steps. Wedding planning doesn’t have to be a huge, unworkable process. As long as you have the right ideas and the drive, you can plan a fantastic wedding! Wedding planning should be started a good 6 months before the actual date. Things can change, and you want to make sure that you can change with them – there’s nothing worse than having to switch things around at the last minute because you didn’t plan for a wedding mishap!

Wedding planning is actually a lot of fun – whether you are planning it for yourself or helping out a friend, planning a wedding can be one of the most rewarding things that you can do. You just need to make sure to have a list of all the items and things you will need, then you can start getting to work! You really don’t need a fancy wedding planning guide or anything to tell you how to start. Some people start right away with the dress, others with the location, and some start with the date. These are three major things to take into consideration when starting the wedding planning. I always start out with the date. Make sure that it is going to be a good date for both sides of the family. Then start looking for the location. When planning for a wedding, you need to think about weather as a factor if you start out with an outside wedding – always have a backup plan! Next on your wedding planning check list should be save the dates, invitations, and then you can start on colors and décor.
Wedding planning can be fun if you are an organized person that can orchestrate things well. If you happen to be lacking in that department, I would suggest you hire a professional wedding planner. They have lots of experience in planning weddings, and will be your best option. If you are doing a destination wedding, try to hire one close to the wedding site, as they will know all of the best caterers and vendors. There are different ways the wedding planning can go if you hire a professional, as well. You can choose your date and secure your location, then have them come in and set everything up for you, or you can do all the arrangements yourself and just have them come in during the rehearsal dinner through big day. However you feel comfortable with your wedding. Congratulations on your engagement and best of luck!

Wedding Photo Do's & Don'ts:

Wedding Photo Do's & Don'ts:
Top 10 Ways to Ruin Your Portraits Without Even Knowing

Photography Expert Dan Creviston Shares Things to Avoid
and Tips to Ensure Flawless Photography on Your Special Day

After months of planning the finer details of your special day – the dress, the location, the guest list and more – your head will likely be spinning. But with so much to think about, it is important not to overlook your only opportunity to permanently capture your special day - your wedding photography.

According to the Bridal Association of America, each year couples spend nearly $5.2 billion on wedding photography, but your investment could fall short if you don’t plan ahead. Without realizing, there are 10 easy ways that you can take your photography from perfect to forgettable.

Top 10 Mishaps of Wedding Photography:

1. Not carefully choosing your photographer
Before choosing your photographer, take time to review their portfolio. If you don’t have someone with experience and skill, your photos will pay the price. Studios should provide album examples to review before you make your choice. If the studio does not allow you to choose your photographer, quickly move on!

2. Not chatting with your photographer a week in advance
It is important to discuss everything in detail with your photographer prior to the wedding day - don’t be afraid to be up-front about your expectations. Do your check in one week prior to the wedding so all instructions are fresh in the photographer’s memory. If you have specific requests, ideas to explore, or important don’ts to cover, express them. This is especially important because churches, synagogues, mosques and chapels may have specific areas that cannot be photographed. You don’t want any unwelcome surprises!

3. Not creating a photo "wish list"
Have you always dreamed of a romantic photo on top of a hill, in the middle of a field, or on a median along a busy street? Show pictures in magazines, old family photos, or any other visual to convey this to your photographer. From there, your wedding photographer should make your “wish list” happen.

4. Taking only stiff, posed pictures

Every album must have formal photos of the wedding party, but don’t let it stop there. It is important to have shots in a more relaxed setting – whether on the dance floor doing the electric slide or strolling around the reception.

5. Shooting at high noon
The sun is shining, the sky is bright, but what you may think is a perfect time to shoot is far from it. High noon sunlight creates harsh shadows on the face and doesn’t cast you in the best light – wait until the afternoon.

6. Sweaty, shiny photos
Of course it will happen - standing close together in full formal gear can turn up the body temperature. But don’t let shiny faces and (eek!) sweaty armpits take away from the special occasion. Be prepared with powder, anti-perspirant deodorant and paper towels!

7. Not scheduling enough time for the
photo sessions and driving time

It takes time to shoot pictures of the entire family, arrive at several different shoot locations and get all of those perfect shots with you and your hubby. Make your life easier – allot extra time for photography! As a plan of attack, get the large group shots finished first, starting with children and the elderly. Next, take pictures with the families and bridal party. Lastly, spend some alone time with your man and the camera, while the impatient herd heads towards the cocktail hour. After all, it is your day!

8. Badly positioned hands and feet
After several shots, you and your wedding party may become antsy – tapping fingers, leaning on one foot and fidgeting. It is important that your photographer works with you to keep everyone photogenic, focused and above everything else – comfortable.

9. Missing the small moments
There are signature special moments in a wedding – the bride and groom’s first kiss, the first dance between a father and new bride, the garter ceremony and cutting of the cake. But small moments - such as the flower girl smiling from the pew, a proud moment between the mother and father, grandma on the dance floor – cannot be missed!

10. Stopping photographs before the reception is over
Many couples want to turn the cameras off at 9 p.m., but some of the most memorable and interesting photos happen when the party really gets going. Keep shooting!

honeymoon Ideas

Honeymoon Vacation Packages

The honeymoon is the best part of the whole wedding – getting to go somewhere really amazing after committing your life to that person is very special. Most honeymoons are in warm climates, and the newlyweds often come back sun burned, but happier and more connected than ever! There are many different types of honeymoons – some are the beachy kind where you just lounge around and drink and eat all day in some of the most beautiful terrain on the earth. Some honeymoon destinations offer skiing, hiking, and biking.

Those are more in the “adventurous” category. A honeymoon doesn’t have to be anywhere like that, there are plenty of honeymoon ideas that don’t even involve travelling. Since I’ve moved to Arizona, I have started getting used to the word stay-cation. Just like the name implies, you basically stay in the city that you are in, and just stay at one of the hotels or resorts as if you were on vacation! That is one honeymoon idea. You can also look up honeymoon vacation packages. Often these will include flight, hotel, and possibly a rental car.

Honeymoon vacation packages are available for most off the major honeymoon destinations. When my best friend got married, they really did it up for the wedding, but they went to Jamaica on a super strict budget. They stayed at Sandals and got a great deal on the honeymoon package. I think their flight, hotel, and all their meals were paid for. My girlfriend only took about $1000 for spending money for the whole 2 weeks they were there. They signed up for activities, they took long walks, and all their meals were free, along with drinks. She told me there were 5 restaurants at the one resort they were at, and they only ever ate at 2 of them. Their honeymoon was just a lot of room service, and they ate and drank on the beach. They did horseback riding, scuba diving, took a drum class, and lots of other activities.

The resort they stayed at was sort of tucked back into the jungle a little bit, and she said that the resort itself was absolutely something to see. She said that she had no idea that a honeymoon could be so full of love and compassion in a beautiful setting. I guess those Jamaican sunsets will do it to you! Included in their honeymoon vacation package was 2 free round trip trips to town. She got to shop a little bit, (she bought some art) and they ate lunch at a small café in town for a change. They had a great time on their honeymoon, they have tons of great pictures, and I think that they will be talking about their honeymoon for years to come! They also went back from their one year anniversary at a discounted fare because they had already been there – they got almost 50% off their trip back for their one year anniversary. Your honeymoon should be very special, so make sure that you choose the right place for the right price. There are lots of package discounts available these days; you just have to scout them out.
