The honeymoon is the best part of the whole wedding – getting to go somewhere really amazing after committing your life to that person is very special. Most honeymoons are in warm climates, and the newlyweds often come back sun burned, but happier and more connected than ever! There are many different types of honeymoons – some are the beachy kind where you just lounge around and drink and eat all day in some of the most beautiful terrain on the earth. Some honeymoon destinations offer skiing, hiking, and biking.

Since I’ve moved to Arizona, I have started getting used to the word stay-cation. Just like the name implies, you basically stay in the city that you are in, and just stay at one of the hotels or resorts as if you were on vacation! That is one honeymoon idea. When my best friend got married, they really did it up for the wedding, but they went to Jamaica on a super strict budget. They stayed at Sandals and got a great deal on the honeymoon package. I think their flight, hotel, and all their meals were paid for. My girlfriend only took about $1000 for spending money for the whole 2 weeks they were there. They signed up for activities, they took long walks, and all their meals were free, along with drinks. She told me there were 5 restaurants at the one resort they were at, and they only ever ate at 2 of them. Their honeymoon was just a lot of room service, and they ate and drank on the beach. They did horseback riding, scuba diving, took a drum class, and lots of other activities.

The resort they stayed at was sort of tucked back into the jungle a little bit, and she said that the resort itself was absolutely something to see. She said that she had no idea that a honeymoon could be so full of love and compassion in a beautiful setting. I guess those Jamaican sunsets will do it to you! Included in their honeymoon vacation package was 2 free round trip trips to town. She got to shop a little bit, (she bought some art) and they ate lunch at a small café in town for a change. They had a great time on their honeymoon, they have tons of great pictures, and I think that they will be talking about their honeymoon for years to come! They also went back from their one year anniversary at a discounted fare because they had already been there – they got almost 50% off their trip back for their one year anniversary. Your honeymoon should be very special, so make sure that you choose the right place for the right price. There are lots of package discounts available these days; you just have to scout them out.
